Skippers Shop sells professional marine electronics where a chartplotter will not pair with just any transducer and a fish finder is defined by hull type, frequency and connector. Generic platforms treat every product like a t-shirt, one SKU, one price. The catalog spans 10,000+ items across six categories and thirteen authorized brands with supplier data that shifts daily.
We built a fully custom platform from scratch, no Shopify, no WooCommerce, engineered for the marine vertical. Product relationships live at the data layer: transducer-to-plotter compatibility, antenna-to-VHF pairing, hull constraints, surfaced as a native Compatible With strip on every page. A bulk CSV pipeline and real-time supplier sync keep pricing and stock current without manual work.
The platform is feature-complete and running as a live demo, storefront, admin, import pipeline and supplier sync all operational. A single CSV upload loads thousands of SKUs in minutes, cutting 20+ hours a week of manual entry to zero developer touches. Commercial launch and the full 10,000+ SKU rollout are scheduled for 2026.
A framework-free HTML5, CSS3 and vanilla JavaScript front-end for speed at scale, backed by Node.js, Express, PostgreSQL and custom session auth on Railway. The storefront, a hierarchical catalog with advanced filtering, product pages with a compatibility strip, cart, wishlist and accounts, a full admin panel, a bulk CSV importer and real-time distributor API sync.
